8 Bit Art: Master Chief from Halo

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

I recently finished working on my next 8 bit art piece, a 23″ tall version of Master Chief from Halo. Being that it is top heavy, I decided to mount it to my wall at my desk and put the white paper behind it to make the colors pop a bit more.

8-Bit Art: Mega Man

I recently started another 8-bit art project. It involves using a product called Pixelblocks. I purchased a 2,000 piece set from Thinkgeek.com a couple weeks ago. The first design idea that came to mind was Mega Man as I have already done some Mario-inspired ones. (more…)

More 8-bit Art

My buddy at work, Joey Hernandez, has created a 8-bit Super Mario wall. I am totally jealous as I had to take down my 8-bit art… I keep telling him that he needs to make the bricks on the ground and some fireballs from Mario.

He and I had also talked about him making a 8-bit battle between Fire Mario and Leaf Mega Man with all of the projectiles. That would be sick!

8-bit Art

What?! Two posts in a day, I must be crazy. Actually, I just couldn’t wait until tomorrow to post this.

I have been working on this 8-bit Super Mario power-up mushroom at work. After some feedback from friends, I have also added the detailed (close-up) pic so that you can see how I built it.

What I did was buy some construction paper and had it cut into 3″ squares. I then taped the squares up to the wall next to my desk in one row. Then I taped the second row up being mindful about lining them up well as to not have the grid get out of whack. It probably took me 45 minutes or so collectively over a few days.

I have gotten a lot of confused responses from my fellow co-workers. If it is accepted by my superiors, I will be changing it up with new designs every once in a while. I am thinking that I will do Boo from Super Mario 3 (I think) next time.

8/22/08 update: I have been asked to take down my “work of art”. Booooooo!!!!! Oh well, at least I was able to finish it and get pics of it.
