Star Wars Ringtones

Posted on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 3:55 am

So this project was sparked because of my friend Joey’s phone and desire for more Star Wars ringtones. He has the light saber turning on ringtone on his phone and when he received a text message on Friday, I heard it and my jaw hit the floor. I was so jealous. I asked him to send me the MP3 so I could convert it and have it on my phone too. Well he emailed it to me and I converted it (m4r), and then added it to my iPhone. He also asked that if I came across any good R2D2 or blaster mp3s to send them to him so he could put them on his phone. I guess I did one better.

Below I have mp3 players so that you can listen to it before you download it. I created download links for the mp3 and m4r (iPhone). If you have any good sound files that you would like to contribute or have converted for your iPhone, contact me.

Important Info: if you are downloading the m4r for your iPhone, it will only work as a ringtone (incoming calls) it will not be able to be set for text messages or emails (booo, I just found that out messing around with it when I installed them). If someone finds a way to have custom text and email sounds, please let me know.

12/14/2008 – I have added the Imperial March and Catina Band ringtones (mp3 and m4r).

  4. charles says:

i got a new phone and lost all of my star wars ringtones. I like the imperial and catina. how do i get them to my iphone.

  5. charles says:

it works now, sorry to have bothered you on this… Great Job. Hey you don’t by chance have a darth vader saying… “What is thy bidding my master” by chance

  6. Thanks, it was a project for some friends of mine and it kind of developed into what it is now.

As for the Vader line, I don’t think I have that off the top of my head, but I will check with a friend of mine and see if I can get it up.

  7. jeremy says:

    just wanted to say thanks

  8. Sara Thomas says:

THANK YOU!! I’ve been so disappointed in apple for not having any decent Star Wars ringtones or apps. But I can now love my iPhone again.

Do you by chance know how to assign ringtones to messages? I can’t seem to figure out how to use anything but the lame choices that come with the phone.

  9. Glad you enjoyed the Star Wars ringtones. I am in the process of creating more and adjusting a couple of the ones here, so check back soon.

As for how to assign custom ringtones to system sounds (messages, texts, alerts), Apple still has not made any system settings available to do that. The only way to do it, is by jailbreaking your iPhone. Once jailbroken, you can assign any sound to any system alert. Right now, I have one of the R2D2 ones assigned to my text message alert.

  10. JPS Nagi says:

    Thanks …
I have the Star Wars main theme as my ring tone, but due to 6 iphones around my cube, I keep picking up my phone for text messages, and other things.
    This will help.

    Thanks for the effort.

  11. JFA says:

Wicked thanks so much man! Imperial March always gets me. I just let my iPhone ring so I can hear it! Can you do some Yoda ones?

  12. Chaunce says:

You are quite welcome. It started as a personal side project and has become quite a useful resource for so many people. I am glad that I can offer something like this and people like yourself appreciate it.

As for assigning ringtones to app alerts (texts, emails, etc.) there is currently no way of doing this without jailbreaking your iPhone. If you Jailbreak it, there are several ways of changing system alerts.

I am also in the process of adding more Star Wars ringtones. Yoda anyone?!

  13. Chaunce says:

I am working on Yoda ones right now and hope to have them very soon.

  14. ruprecht says:

thanks – these rock! I really am interested in getting the scream from the sand people … any chance you have that one? Thanks

  15. Iszam says:

    Love you.

  16. Elizabeth says:

I’d LOVE the Imperial March for my AT&T LG Xenon. Help?!

  17. @Elizabeth, You should be able to download the mp3 version and upload it to your phone. I am not familiar with the LG Xenon, but I am sure you could Google directions on how to do it fairly easily.

  18. Pete Hitchin says:

    Great sounds!!!!
Any chance of some more ’songs’ such as SW main title, Princess Leia’s theme or Star Trek First contact end titles?

    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

  19. John luke says:

When i click on the m4r link it goes to some code and it does not download, what should i do?

  20. @Pete Hitchin, I am working on adding some more stuff soon. With the holidays, I have been traveling a bunch.

@John luke, I am not having any issues downloading the m4r’s. Is there a specific one that you are having issues with? Also, what OS are you on?

  21. Dan Hender5son says:

Sooooooo… any chance of the tie-fighter flyby howl as a ringtone? I have no idea where one would find a file, but I’ve been looking for the ringtone pretty much since I’ve had a phone that would support it. All begging aside, awesome work and thanks for doing it. Muchos gracias!

  22. Krishna ... no, I'm not that one. says:

Watched Fanboys recently and have been busting for the R2D2 scream.

    Thanks a lot great work.

Any chance of hearing some Wookie?

  23. mike says:

    Thank You!
