MotoCzysz has a prototype electric motorcycle that they have recorded a video of it being treadmill tested. The thing that blew me away was how quick it was. I have heard lots of things about electric motors and how much torque they have not to mention how fast they can accelerate, but to see it in action gave me goosebumps. I would love to have one of these bikes.
Also from the video, you can see that there doesn’t seem to be any clutching movements in the test rider or bike leading me to believe that it has no clutch. It seems that without a internal combustion engine (ICE), there is not need for a clutch. All you have to do is crank back on the throttle and you’re gone!
MotoCzysz’s blog also said “the Digital Superbike, like your computer, has ‘open architecture’ and can be upgraded and reconfigured.” So, modifications it will be available but will most likely have to be linked to your computer or laptop. That should be interesting.
Update 5/20/09 – I added the second video that shows the bike crank 120mph in about 10 seconds, and it didn’t even seem to sweat it! I would imagine that it could jump to 120 faster than that with more tuning.
