30 Day Challenge – Day 8

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Whew, 8 days in and I can definitely tell a difference in the way my body feels. I have notice that with all of the cycling and elliptical I do, my legs are feeling firmer. Some days, I can tell how much stronger they have gotten when I am pulling up a hill on my bicycle and I can do it with much more ease.

Saturday was a big day for me as well as I was reffing in a derby tournament in Ventura and was on skates for most of 12 hours. Mind you I was seated or standing off and on, 4 hours of it was skating at a very fast rate. On the ride home I passed out from complete exhaustion.

I am getting more excited as I had spent some time Sunday working on Heidi’s single-speed bicycle I am building. Once it is finished (hopefully very soon), we will be out cycling together, something both of us really enjoy. Which will probably boost my cycling to 7 days a week.

Thursday: I rode my bike round trip for work.

Friday: Went to the gym in the am (30min of elliptical and 30min of weights/abs). I also rode my bike round trip for work.

Saturday: Skated vigorously for about 4 hours and skated moderately for about 7-8 hours.

Sunday: Walked for about 2 hours (at the Velodrome Swap Meet).

Today: Went to the gym in the am (30min of elliptical and 30min of weights/abs). I also rode my bike round trip for work.

San Diego Velodrome Swap Meet

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I had recently from a fellow cyclist that there was going to be a cycle swap meet coming up in the fall. So after a bit of research I found out the there is a cycle swap meet coming up.

According to SDVoldrome.com, they will be hosting the swap meet on Sunday, October 19th, 2008. It doesn’t seem to say when it starts but I would imagine it will get going early.

If you don’t know where the San Diego Velodrome is, it is located in the north-east corner of Balboa Park called Morley Field. It is just west of the baseball fields and south of the dog park. Google Maps location.

From the pictures that they have posted on their site, it looks like quite a few vendors show up and there would be a lot to choose from.

Update 10/06/08: The swap meet will begin at 8:00am. I was told that the last one they had, was such an overwhelming turnout that people were waiting in line to get in. So I would get there early.
